Notorious highwayman Dick Turpin reputedly drank there during his
last days of freedom.
But now people seeking refreshment may have to go elsewhere as
new plans could see Brough's Ferry Inn pub turned into apartments.
Marston's Inns and Taverns is proposing to transform the Station
Road pub into accommodation, because the company claims the venue
does not make enough money.
Regulars have so far amassed 450 signatures against the plans and
hope to secure the support of up to 1,000. An online group called
Save The Ferry Inn, on social networking website Facebook, has
attracted 300 members.
Nicola Hunter, 21, a nursery nurse from Brough, has been a
regular at the pub for three years.
