Prolific Poppy Appeal campaigner Stan Rudge is being rewarded
with a trip to the First World War battlefields of Flanders.
The Lydney fundraiser, who has presided over a record year by
collecting more than pounds11,000 to help war veterans and their
families, is visiting Ypres in April.
Stan said he is honoured to be invited on the trip, which will
help his Royal British Legion work in educating children about the
importance of the Poppy Appeal.
"It will be interesting and will enable us to come up with more
ideas to see how we can get more schools involved," he said.
"It will be a chance to confront what this is all about." He
