Update: Iranian president ends visit to Iraq

BAGHDAD, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ended his two-day historic visit to Iraq and left herefor home on Monday.

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki saw him off with a red-carpet ceremony.

Ahmadinejad was the first Iranian president who has visited Iraq since Iran's Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Earlier on Monday, Ahmadinejad told a news conference in Baghdad that his country and Iraq have signed seven agreements in various fields, including industry, trade and transportation.
