Thai Cabinet approves 1.3-billion-U.S.-dollar economic stimulus package

BANGKOK, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Cabinet on Tuesday approved a 40-billion-baht (1.3 billion U.S. dollar) economic stimulus package proposed by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee, according to the Thai News Agency.

Surapong said the economic stimulus package approved by the cabinet involves tax measures aimed at helping low-income people, boosting savings, and reducing spending.

Surapong said he believed the tax measures, when implemented, would help spur the economy to grow by at least six percent this year as the measures will help boost confidence in spending and investment.
