Article: 55 mph speed limit on Live Oak Canyon Road debated

REDLANDS - Some residents of Live Oak Canyon Road feel the road's speed limit is too high.

As the president of the Friends of Live Oak Canyon, Redlands resident David Matuszak has been engaging in an open dialogue with Redlands Police Chief Jim Bueermann about the speed limit on Live Oak Canyon Road.

In a series of e-mails, Matuszak and Bueermann have discussed the process of setting the speed limits for roads such as Live Oak Canyon.

Bueermann said a radar speed survey was held on the Redlands section of Live Oak Canyon Road on Nov. 14, 2007. The survey indicated that five of the road's curves should be posted with 30 mph advisory speed signs.
