I Had high expectations of my first visit to Louth's Riverhead
Theatre, and the Louth Playgoers production of Amadeus didn't
disappoint me.
The Peter Shaffer tale tells of the life and death of Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart, as seen through the eyes of rival composer Antonio
Salieri.
Set in 18th century Vienna, the play begins with Salieri (played
with depth and compassion by John Elliot) just hours from his
death.
The action moves back in time as Salieri recounts the tale of his
temptuous relationship with the talented young Mozart, portrayed by
Luke Moulding.
Convinced Mozart has both wooed the woman of his dreams, and
produced music better than he ever could, a jealous Salieri sets out
to ...
