Harchibald can score

Harchibald can quell the dissenting voices by winning the Champion Hurdle on the first day of the Cheltenham Festival.

Although his supporters are in for an anxious few hours - soft ground spells very bad news - the Harchibald sceptics may well be left with egg on their faces after the main event.

The nine-year-old's fighting spirit has been questioned. The critics most notably sharpened their blades in the Champion Hurdle three years ago when he found nothing off the bridle and went down a head to Hardy Eustace. Third that day was Brave Inca, though, so the form obviously looks watertight in retrospect.
