Article: Visitor centre's revamp set to draw crowds

A Sutherland visitor centre is undergoing a major facelift as part of a move to reverse a decline in tourists locally.

About pounds280,000 is being spent on refurbishing the Ferrycroft Visitor Centre at Lairg, which is due to reopen on April 1, and other linked projects involving visitor attractions in the area.

These other attractions include the auction mart, which hosts one of the largest one-day lamb sales in Europe.

Highland Council's area cultural officer for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross Adrian Clark said most of the money was being spent on the visitor centre.
