Manpower Inc.'s employment outlook survey for Pittsburgh region
says area employers expect to hire at a healthy pace in the second
quarter of 2008. From April to June, 35 percent of the companies
interviewed plan to hire more employees, while five percent expect
to maintain current staffing. Area hiring levels appear to be
growing stronger, compared with the first quarter, when only 20
percent of companies interviewed intended to add workers, and 15
percent planned to cut payrolls. Job prospects in the second quarter
appear best in the construction, durable goods, manufacturing,
finance, insurance and real estate, and the service sectors.
