Healthy restaurants thrive in Jefferson Parish, but a scarcity of
fit fast-food chains leave many people to indulge in traditionally
unhealthy foods when on the go.
Valerie Mercier prepares healthy foods for her toddler, Sabrina,
when at home but said when she is running around town, there are not
many options for eating healthy.
"There's ways to eat healthy foods (in Jefferson) without going
to McDonald's but not as many (for on the go)," Mercier said. "There
is Quizno's and Subway, but you have to get out of the car."
Instead, Mercier, originally from Quebec, Canada, prefers to eat
healthy foods from the international restaurants in the area,
counting Lebanese, Vietnamese and sushi as her ...
