In real life, Alan Shore and Denny Crane -- the obnoxious, oily,
morally limber lawyers James Spader and William Shatner play on ABC's
"Boston Legal" -- would repel you almost immediately.
On TV, however, they are amusing, outlandish caricatures.
Charming, almost.
It's all the absurd stuff going on around them in David E.
Kelley's new "Ally McBeal"-ified spinoff of "The Practice" that looks
to drive you away.
