WHEN IT comes to stylish, affordable clothing, there is already
an abundance of fruit on the British high street but until now
there has never been a Banana. You'll have heard of Banana Republic,
of course: you might even own a slice of it, if you are one of the
many Brits for whom Banana is one of the first ports of call when
shopping in New York.
Now, a mere 30 years after its inception, the San Francisco-born
chain, part of the Gap group, is finally arriving in the UK next
Thursday, with a swank three-floor flagship store on Regent Street
its first entry into the European market.
