Even though correspondents of the newly-formed postal service in
this country were enjoying a novelty, all managed to write fluently
and often with several flourishes, even on the envelopes. However,
when reading the envelopes all are extreme in their brevity, often
including only a name and town or village to which it was being sent
in country districts.
London would have required more, of course, in 1841 when the
letter addressed to "Matthew Moyle, Chacewater" was posted, shown
with the Penny Black on its side for some reason.
Bearing a cancellation stamp from Truro, it will require at least
