Fears pay disputes will lead to increase in industrial action

Unions and a leading conciliation service are warning that
uncertain economic times could lead to more industrial unrest.
The public sector in particular will face the brunt of possible
strike action over coming months as soaring food and energy bills
coupled with below- inflation pay deals take effect.
Today, sees the start of two days of industrial action by
Department for Work and Pensions staff in a row over pay.
Hundreds of PCS union members working at Jobcentres, benefits
offices, the Pension Service and the Child Support Agency across
the region are expected to walk out.
