The first time Colorado Springs native Rick "Goose" Gossage was
denied entry into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, in 2000, he
hardly cared, saying, "Very few guys go in on the first ballot, and
my expectations weren't high."
The fourth time Gossage fell short in the voting, in 2003, he
took a philosophical approach, saying, "Life goes on, and there are
more important things in life."
The eighth time Gossage got snubbed, in 2007, Gossage was low on
patience, saying, "It's out of my control, and hopefully next year
it will happen, but there's nothing I can do about it."
The former Wasson High School star who pitched for nine major
