Residents of a mid-Devon village say they are delighted after
being told a bail hostel in a quiet cul-de-sac will close within
three months.
More than 1,500 people in Willand signed a petition demanding the
hostel for three "low risk" homeless offenders be moved to a town or
city.
Yesterday, it was revealed the owner of the house in South View
Close has given Clearsprings, the private firm contracted by the
Government to provide the service, 90 days to terminate its tenancy.
The Government has agreed with the firm no new individuals will
be placed at the property and existing residents will be moved.
