Devonport-based HMS Bulwark was due to return home today after
completing her first operational run as the Royal Navy's amphibious
flagship since emerging from refit last summer.
The 20,000-tonne commando assault ship (pictured right) was
deployed to Arctic waters in early February to take part in the
challenging multinational amphibious exercise Armatura Borealis in
extreme conditions.
Operating with warships and Royal Marines from five nations, HMS
Bulwark acted as the flagship for the Commander of the standing
Amphibious Task Group, Commodore Peter Hudson, and the Commander of
3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines, Brigadier David Capewell, both
based at Stonehouse Barracks in Plymouth.
