Dickhut, Daniel F.
Professor Daniel F. Dickhut died peacefully at home on March 16,
2008. He was born on September 21, 1931, in Jefferson, Wisconsin, to
the late Forrest Ernst and Hedwig (Briganski) Dickhut. He graduated
from Nathan Hale High School in Milwaukee and attended the
University of Wisconsin-Madison where he graduated in 1953, going on
to obtain a Master Degree in Art. He served in the U.S. Navy during
the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1956. Upon leaving
the Navy he came to De Pere as the first lay professor at St.
Norbert College. He married Rachel Virginia Smith on April 7, 1958.
Dan taught art at St. Norbert College for 42 years and retired as an
