BOSTON - The TD Banknorth Garden is destined for yet another name
change because of another megamerger in the banking industry.
Executives at TD Banknorth haven't decided on a new name, but one
thing is for sure: The word "garden" is going to be part of it.
Jennifer Carlson, a public affairs officer at TD Banknorth, said
the bank is expected to change the name of the Boston arena to
reflect parent company TD Bank Financial Group's pending acquisition
of Cherry Hill, N.J.-based Commerce Bank.
"We are evaluating potential naming options for the Garden, but
sports fans should be assured that the 'Garden' name will stay in
the name," Carlson said.
