With the spring election just over a week away, it's good to remember a time-honored adage.

The race for president in 2008 might have captured the national news because of historic precedents of whether we elect the first African-American, first woman or the oldest president when first inaugurated. But in Milwaukee, there's history waiting to be made in several April Fools' Day contests.
