Dorothea (Highberg) Ohman , 89, of Concord died Friday, March 21,
after a brief illness at the Havenwood Nursing Home where she
resided.
She was born Aug. 19, 1918, to Gustaf and Elin (Hallgren)
Highberg in Springfield, Mass. Gustaf was born in Sweden and
immigrated to the United States in the early 1900s as a teenager and
Elin was a first generation American from Swedish parents. Dorothea
was always proud to be a "Thoroughbred Swede."
Her family moved to Wilson, Conn., where she grew up, when she
was 10 months old. She attended the Roger Wolcott grade school and
traveled by bus or trolley to graduate from the John Fitch High
School. She became a Christian as a teenager, and her dedication ...
