NORMAL, Ill. -- When that long-awaited moment finally arrived, it wasn't that injured foot that presented the problem, it was his head.

"I think I kind of blacked out going from the bench to the scorer's table that first time," said Chris Wright, the Dayton Flyers freshman sensation who hadn't played since he fractured a bone in his right ankle Jan. 9.

"For a couple seconds going to the table, I don't remember anything. I was just so shocked that he was sending me into the game so fast."

He was talking about UD coach Brian Gregory, who is to be excused if he pulled the trigger quickly in the Flyers' secondround NIT game at Illinois State Monday night, March 24.
