On the heels of terminating 28 headquarters personnel last week,
84 Lumber Co. said Monday it's consolidating nine stores into other
facilities in six states. In addition, the Eighty Four, Washington
County-based building materials company is creating what's called
the Atlanta Construction Service Hub, which combines a door shop,
engineered wood center, installed insulation and a whole-house
installed sales program in Cartersville, Ga., 40 miles northwest of
Atlanta. The terminations and consolidations are a result of the
ongoing housing industry downturn, according to 84 Lumber. "These
