After being a student of a world renowned martial arts teacher,
John Turner's Black Belt Academy has taken a whole new approach.
Since the school was made full-time in 2000, John Turner has
chosen the motto 'common sense over self-defence'.
Turner has been involved in teaching since 1979, and moved to the
region in the mid-80s, but has also been learning from the world
famous Dr Hee Yong Kimm for the majority of that time.
His philosophy focuses on only using fighting techniques as a
means of restraining, not attacking, an aggressor.
This is an influence Turner feels has helped in the creation of
his club, based on West Terrace in Brigg.
