Greg Cross, the newest addition to Pitt's convoluted quarterback
equation, took a snap from center at practice Saturday and, before
the defense knew it, was gone in a flash -- all the way to the end
zone.
Cross, a junior college transfer from Fort Scott (Kan.) Community
College, conceded there's a lot more learning involved at Pitt, but
he said he's eager to make a successful run at finding some answers.
Perhaps one day soon he'll be taking snaps for the Panthers from
fellow junior college transfer Robb Houser, who is making a strong
bid to become the team's starting center after transferring from
Butte College (Calif.).
"It's a great thing for Robb and I to come in during the spring,"
