A plymouth school has raised pounds200 for a Devon donkey sanctuary, after the furry friends paid pupils a visit.

Lipson Vale Primary School had a visit from the Donkey Sanctuary, near Sidmouth, before Christmas when Joseph, Springy, Dixie and Cocoa impressed the children.

Pupils enjoyed the visit so much they then raised pounds200 by holding a mufti day at the school.

They have now handed over a cheque to the Donkey Sanctuary.

Teacher Marie Pritchard said: "Just before Christmas the donkey sanctuary brought four donkeys to the school.
