Ferry staff who bring duty-free cigarettes, alcohol and other
items into the UK risk getting the sack - even if they have only
been on holiday.
The Mail has obtained a letter, given to P&O Ferries Limited
workers, which states they will no longer be able to reap the
benefits of foreign trips.
Thousands of passengers travelling from Hull pick up bargain
booze or cut-price cigarettes on their trips, but P&O workers are
exempt.
According to the letter, the ban also covers off-duty P&O staff,
even if they are travelling with their families.
And it warns: "Breaches of the rules set out in this notice will
be treated as gross misconduct for which dismissal will be
considered appropriate."
