Hidden Silver Star shines brightly
KELOWNA, B.C. -- I wasa little worried about Silver Star when we
went out for a stroll in the ski resort village on the first night of
a recent trip.
It was a short stroll.
The village at Silver Star is small enough to worry you if you've
come for the big-mountain experience that Canadian skiing usually
promises.
There's also the problem of the resort's self-styled designation
as a "family resort." When I think of the word "family" in terms of
ski resorts, I think of smaller, less challenging, or toned-down.
Maybe the analogy that works is this: a family ski resort reminds me
of a detuned racing ski. It looks like it can speed, but it doesn't
