El Segundo close, but Centennial wins

Despite both El Segundo and Centennial entering Friday night's Ocean League boys basketball game undefeated in league play, few gave El Segundo much of a chance to win.

Visiting Centennial, ranked No. 2 in the state by CalHiSports.com, had not had any struggles against the other six league foes while El Segundo needed big plays in the fourth quarter to beat both South Torrance and West Torrance.

Friday, after three close quarters, it was Centennial that found a way to make the key plays anddowned El Segundo, 55-44, to take control of the Ocean League race.
