Ministers call Mayor Hahn's $25,000 grants `hush money'

In what some ministers now denounce as "hush money,"Mayor James Hahn offered three African-American churches $25,000 each in city grants in the weeks leading up to his announcement that he opposes a second term for Los Angeles Police Chief Bernard C. Parks, the Daily News learned Tuesday.

Two of the ministers said that in light of Hahn's stance on Parks - - and regardless of Hahn's motivations -- they feel it would be immoral to keep the badly needed money and intend to refuse it.
