Carson toes free-throw line and wins
The Carson boys basketball team struggled all season from the free-
throw line, making a Shaquille O'Neal-like 57 percent.
Carson coach Richard Masson said he canpinpoint games he lost
solely on his team's free-throw woes. And he knew if the trend
continued in the playoffs, the Colts would not last long.
In the first round of the L.A. City Championships on Friday, the
eighth-seeded Colts stepped up to the challenge and made 13 of 16
free throws (81.3 percent) to highlight a balanced attack in a 57-48
victory over ninth-seeded Taft.
The Colts (18-7) advance to the quarterfinals, where they will
take on top-seeded Westchester, a 96-41 winner over No. 16 ...
