Carol Hayden of Harbor City offered a glorious review of her visit
to Bernardus Lodge of Carmel Valley. She raved about the featured
desserts -- "the most delicious fruit tortes we have ever
experienced, berry, peach, strawberry, plum or rhubarb and
raspberry."
We're still trying to pry the torte recipe from the pastry chef,
but the staff at Bernardus Lodge offered the restaurant's most
popular and most requestedrecipe as a conciliation.
I couldn't resist trying this recipe at home, without leeks, which
aren't abundant in stores right now. Splurge and add the goat cheese;
the rich texture and taste are worth it.
