Joe Henry probably knows fame better than anyone who isn't famous yet.

The L.A.-based singer counts among his childhood friends not one but two of the most renowned figures ofthe 20th century. The first was serial murderer Jeffrey Dahmer.

"He was like a lot of kids at that age -- awkward," says Henry, who adds they only knew each other from fourth to seventh grade, and never shared lunch.

"I played next tohim in the school band," Henry says. "We both played coronet. It was very strange finding out what happened."
