Chef Robert Bell has gone into supermarkets wearing his chef jacket and looking for a cut of meat while store customers line up to ask him questions.

That's fine with Bell, who is planning to share his expertise with a larger audience.

Bell and businesspartner Michael Franks are opening what they say is the first completely hands-on cooking school in the SouthBay in their Redondo Beach restaurant, Chez Melange. The two held the first class Thursday.
