Article: Junior colleges getting shaft

I thought your editorial in Tuesday's Opinion section, regarding the need for more funding to our state's junior colleges, was excellent in bringing to light our state Legislature's failure to fund our community colleges.

Gov. Gray Davis, who campaigned to be California's educational governor, has been a real disappointment, to say the very least, regarding this issue.

Sacramento's willingness to balance the state budget at the expense of our junior colleges is callous and unfair to students, teachers and the businesses in our local communities that have come to depend on an educated work force, which junior colleges provide.

Raising the per-credit fee a few dollars is a good start.
