`Family Affair' diversion from reality
It's going to bea tough week as we recall -- and, thanks to TV,
revisit -- the awful events of a year ago.
The networks have stocked their schedules with 9-11 programming.
But for viewers who wish to take a break from difficult realities,
television also will host a menu of diversions.
Foremost in that category is "Family Affair," a spiritual
throwback to its 1960s predecessor, to which this revival is
slavishly loyal.
Starring Tim Curry (rather than Sebastian Cabot) as butler Mr.
French, and Gary Cole (instead of Brian Keith) as contented bachelor
Bill Davis, the WB's new "Affair" is silly, wholesome and altogether
