Calendar salutes San Pedro's fishing history
MEMORIES: Century-old photos show what the community lookedlike as
a major tuna center.
In its glory days, the commercial fishing fleet ruled San Pedro's
waterfront in what became the largest fishing port in the nation by
the 1920s.
The boats are mostly gone now, largely due to foreign competition.
But residents who aren't old enough to remember the fleet's heyday
can see what it looked like in a new 15-month calendar that goes on
sale today celebrating San Pedro's fishing past.
Vintage photographs dating back nearly 100 years decorate the
