Winona Ryder shoplifting case sent to the jury

COURTS: "She came, she stole, she left," prosecutor says. Defense attorney says Saks workers set up actress. The Winona Ryder case went to the jury Monday after the prosecution and defensepresented opposing portraits of the actress as a shoplifterout for thrills and as a victim of Saks Fifth Avenue and lying security guards.

Superior Court Judge Elden Fox ordered the jury to chose a foreperson and return for deliberations today.

Ryder, 31, is charged with grand theft, burglary and vandalism for allegedly stealing $5,570 worth of merchandise from the Beverly Hills Saks Fifth Avenue store Dec. 12. The charges carry up to three years in prison.
