Article: Adoption agency gets another week to make case

The fight to return an adopted baby to her birth family in Chicago was delayed yet again Thursday.

Baby Tamia, at the center of a months-long, racially charged custody dispute between her black mother and a Utah adoption agency, will continue living with a white Utah family as her case challenging the adoption drags on.

A Cherished Child Adoption Agency asked for another week to answer allegations made by Tamia's mother and grandmother, Carmen and Maria McDonald.

They claim Carmen McDonald was not in the proper mental condition to have rightfully given up her 3-month-old baby in December and that neither Maria McDonald nor other family knew of the adoption until it was over.
