Part of a small chain of microbrew pubs born in Cambridge, Mass., John Harvard's features the requisite brew-pub picture windows overlooking the brewery's tanks, as well the dark-wood, faux- antique decor that hundreds of restaurants have cloned over the past three decades. But there's a subtle wit at work that almost ridicules the cliche.
