Charges in copper thefts

An East Cocalico Township man has been charged with stealing $6,400 worth of copper welding supplies from two Lancaser County businesses, police reported today. Larry Lee Weaver, 43, of 2567 N. Reading Road (Route 272), Denver, allegedly stole copper welding cable and copper welding leads from Fisher's Welding in New Holland and JJ Stoner Mechanical in East Cocalico Township, police said.

Weaver resold the copper to recycling dealers, police said.

On March 9, Weaver entered Fisher's Welding, 451 Diller Ave., New Holland, and stole $2,800 worth of copper welding cable from the business, New Holland police Detective Jonathan Heisse ...
