The saga of this year's phenom is the latest example of a hype
system spinning out of control.
Exploitation is in the eyes of the beholder.
Or in the driver of a fresh-off-the-lot Hummer H2.
News the mother of 6-foot-8, 240-pound LeBron James, the high
school basketball hotshot from Akron, Ohio, secured a loan so her
baby boy could buy a nice, new, expensive Hummer, complete with all
the electronic extras the teen of today dreams of playing with, makes
it difficult to accept the proposition that the young man is being
exploited.
Materialistic aspects of this saga to the contrary, James, who is
projected as the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft, is being ...
