With work for the space shuttles and space station accounting for
more than half of business at El Segundo-based Wyle Laboratories, an
extended freeze of shuttle launches could hold untold consequences
for the company.
NASA and other government officials are not talking about ending
all shuttle flights. But after the shuttle Columbia disintegrated
during re-entry Saturday, all launches were delayed until an
investigation is completed.
NASA suspended shuttle flights for 2 1/2 years after the
Challenger exploded during a launch in 1986.
"We would have no idea at this point in time. It's way too early
to figure it out," Wyle spokesman Dan Reeder said of possible effects ...
