A&E's 'Suicide Bombers' more a low-budget thriller than news report

If "Suicide Bombers" were not such a clumsily made documentary, it might be tendentious.

Ideology is not supposed to be the point of "The Point: Suicide Bombers"; the program purports simply to cover the subject, the reality of suicide bombings in Israel and the possibility of them in America.

You might watch the film keeping a ledger to try to determine its politics.

An entry could be made whenever the program attributes the actions of a suicide bomber to individual psychopathology or adolescent rage. Another column could record instances when religion is blamed, and still another could be marked when the program cites poverty as the bombers' motivation.
