They should have been special moments.

Felipe Aguilar should have been enjoying the time with his father.

Instead, he thought about missing baseball games and practices with the Carson frosh/soph team. When he should have cherished a moment, he was distracted, thinking about what he could be doing behind his catcher's mask, imagining the sound of the ball hitting his mitt.

Aguilar's relationship with his father had waned since the latter moved back to Mexico. And the game his father taught him left the younger Aguilar confused.
