VIKINGS 31, PACKERS 17
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers may have been NFC North
champions in the regular season, but the Minnesota Vikings are the
last team standing after pulling off a 31-17 upset Sunday before a
disappointed crowd of 71,075 at Lambeau Field in the wild-card round
of the NFL playoffs.
The Vikings joined the St. Louis Rams and New York Jets as upset
road winners on opening weekend with only the Indianapolis Colts able
to hold serve in the first round of the playoffs. The Vikings and
Rams are the first 8-8 teams ever to win in the playoffs. Minnesota,
the sixth seed in the NFC, earned a Sunday date at Philadelphia after
beating third-seeded Green Bay.
