In a recent CareerBuilder.com survey, more than one-third of hiring managers rated the appropriateness of a job seeker's work experience as the number one factor influencing how they choose candidates for positions.

CareerBuilder.com's "Hiring Trends 2003" survey, conducted from June 25 to July 2, 2003, polled more than 450 hiring managers. These hiring managers showed that after experience, they rate the candidate's professional behavior during the selection process as the most important criteria influencing their choices.
