Article: Centennial slips past El Segundo yet again

Time was running out and El Segundo desperately needed a play.

Suddenly, Centennial senior guard Tyre Thompson lost possession of the ball. But instead of turning it over, he dipped to the ground and muscled his way back into control of the loose ball.

Then he found teammate John Johnson, who picked up a foul and made two free throws that closed the door on El Segundo.

Thompson's play was a little sloppy, extremely aggressive and emblematic of what has been the difference whenever Centennial and El Segundo meet in a Pioneer League boys basketball game.

Centennial just seems to have a little more fight.
