Given the response to my recent column on lubricants, vaginal
dryness is a problem surpassed only by global warming, the economy
and achieving world peace. While using the right lubricant is all
that some couples require to have comfortable intercourse, many women
also need the help of vaginal estrogen.
Q. I had a complete hysterectomy at age 38. I only took hormones
for a short time because they caused migraines. Intercourse became
painful, so my husband and I stopped having sex. Is there anything
that reverses atrophy? I tried lubricants, but sex still hurt.
