The airport had one of the nation's highest rates of flights leaving on time last year, federal statistics show. Planes taking off from Los Angeles International Airport pushed back from the gate on schedule more than 83 percent of the time.

The statistics were even better for travelers headed to Hawaii, according to a Daily Breeze analysis. The two major U.S. airlines with the best on-time records out of LAX both fly only to the islands.
